, California (December 14, 2021) – The Sheriff-Coroner's Office has identified one of the two men who were killed early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle collision in San Bernardino as Jose Villegas Olvera, 64.

The deadly crash happened at around 2:10 a.m. Sunday, December 12, at the intersection of Avenue and Macy Street.

According to the San Bernardino Police Department, a 34-year-old man was driving westbound on Rialto Avenue at a high rate of speed when, for an undetermined reason, he lost control of his 1997 Mercedes Benz, which crossed the double yellow line into the opposite lane.

The Mercedes reportedly slid into the path of an eastbound 2006 Honda Civic driven by Olvera. The Honda ultimately slammed into the side of the Mercedes.

The impact caused the Mercedes to split into two halves and eject the driver onto the roadway.
