Joseph Peters Killed, 4 Injured in Lane County Multi-Vehicle Crash

Lane County, OR — One person was killed and four others, including two juveniles, were injured following a multi-vehicle traffic collision on Highway 99 in Lane County on Tuesday last week.

The deadly crash happened on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at about 3:41 p.m., on Highway 99 in Lane County.

OSP said Sheldon Bryce Moore (46) of Creswell, was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado dually pickup southbound on Highway 99 near milepost 10 when he slowed to negotiate a turn. A white Chevrolet Tahoe, which was directly behind the Silverado, was rear-ended by a southbound blue Mazda Tribute, operated by Joseph M. Peters, 35, of Cottage Grove.

After the impact, the Mazda veered into the northbound lane and crashed into a white Ford F-350 pickup towing a dump trailer loaded with dirt and rocks.

Joseph Peters suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. OSP said Peters succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Friday, June 20.

The driver of the Tahoe, identified as Tenielle Lynette Long-Piccolo, 35, of Cottage Grove, and two female juveniles – ages 14 and 9, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-350, identified as Marcelo Analco Garcia, 34, of Eugene, suffered minor injuries but was not transported.

Moore was not injured.

The highway was shut down for about three hours during the on-scene investigation.

The incident remains under remains under investigation.
