Joshua Vasquez-Escamilla ID'd as Driver Killed in Lakeview Crash on Ramona Expressway near Hansen Avenue
Lakeview, California (March 18, 2022) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Office has identified the driver who died early Thursday morning following a head-on collision in Lakeview as Joshua Vasquez-Escamilla, 21.
The incident happened at around 5:45 a.m. Thursday, March 17, on the Ramona Expressway, just west of Hansen Avenue and involved two vehicles.
According to the authorities, Vasquez-Escamilla, a San Jacinto resident, was driving a Hyundai Sonata westbound on the Ramona Expressway when, for unknown reasons, he drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an Isuzu box van.
Both vehicles sustained major damage following the collision.
Lakeview Crash Thursday morning Kills One
Vasquez-Escamilla was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van driver, a 34-year-old Los Angeles man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash.
No further details were available.
The crash is under investigation.
