Juan Cordova Suffers Severe Injuries after Fatal Rialto Car Accident at Riverside Avenue and Third Street

Rialto, California (June 13, 2022) – Juan Cordova has been identified as the Colton man severely injured after a deadly collision that claimed 40-year-old Priscilla Hernandez's life in Rialto.
According to a police report, the accident happened on Wednesday night, June 8, at around 9:15 p.m., in the 300 block of North Riverside Avenue.
As per the report,38-year-old Richard Madrid was driving his black Mercedes C63 northbound on Riverside Avenue at a high rate of speed when he slammed into Cordova's car. Cordova was reportedly driving his Chevrolet HHR eastbound on Third Street when the collision occurred.
Hernandez, Cordova's wife, and passenger, and Cordova were rushed to the hospital by emergency crews. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Cordova was treated for severe injuries.
Madrid was also treated at a hospital for minor injuries. He was later arrested for suspicion of murder due to DUI and speeding. Police booked him on a $2.5 million bail.
An investigation is ongoing.

Rialto, California (June 10, 2022) – Priscilla Hernandez, 40, of Colton, was killed in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Rialto on Wednesday night, according to the Rialto Police Department.
The incident occurred at about 9:15 p.m. on June 8, in the 300 block of North Riverside Avenue.
Police said Richard Madrid, 38, of Fontana, was driving a black Mercedes C63 northbound on Riverside Avenue at a high rate of speed when he collided with a Chevrolet HHR traveling eastbound on Third Street.
Hernandez was a passenger in the Chevrolet. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Her husband, who was the driver of the Chevrolet, was taken to the hospital with significant injuries but was in stable condition.
Madrid was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
He was later arrested on suspicion of murder and booked on a $2.5 million bail.
The Rialto Police Department is investigating the incident.
Traffic Collision Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021, Early Estimates Show
Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year.
According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increase from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020.
NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
The NHTSA report indicates that the traffic fatalities in the following categories showed relatively large increases in 2021, as compared to 2020:
Fatalities in multi-vehicle collisions went up 16%
Fatalities among drivers 65 and older up to 14%
Pedestrian fatalities up 13%
Fatalities in crashes involving at least one large truck up 13%
Daytime fatalities up 11%
Fatalities on urban roads up 16%
Motorcyclist deaths up 9%
Bicyclist deaths up 5%
Fatalities in speeding-related mishaps up 5%
Fatalities in police-reported, alcohol-involvement collisions up 5%
