Juan Gonzalez-Ramirez Killed in DUI Crash on Saint Isabel Street in Newark

, California (January 11, 2022) – The passenger who died Monday night in an alleged DUI crash in Newark has been identified by the County Sheriff's Office coroner's office as 22-year-old Juan Gonzalez-Ramirez of .

At about 11:20 p.m. on January 10, emergency personnel responded to the crash on Saint Isabel Street near Cedar Boulevard.

According to Newark police,  Salvador Silva-Ramierz, 24, of Newark, was driving on Saint Isabel Street when, for unknown reasons,  his vehicle slammed into a parked car near Cedar Boulevard.

Authorities Identify Victim Killed in Newark Crash as Fremont Man

One of Silva-Ramierz's passengers, Gonzalez-Ramirez, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Three other passengers had minor injuries.

Authorities later determined that Silva-Ramierz was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He was ultimately arrested and booked at the Santa Rita jail on suspicion of DUI.
