County, California (November 19, 2021) –  The driver who died after crashing into the rear of a semi- south of in on Wednesday night has been identified as Juan Daniel Moreno, 20, of Dinuba, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred just after 10:30 p.m. November 17, near the intersection of Road 80 and Avenue 384.

According to CHP, a 2012 Freightliner had slowed for a stoplight on northbound Road 80 when it was struck from behind by a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Moreno.

Two stoplights were knocked down at the intersection of Avenue 384 following the incident.

Moreno was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the big rig, a 51-year-old, was not injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
