Juan Urbano-Miguel ID'd as Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Vehicle on Victoria Street and Placentia Avenue in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa, California (January 6, 2021) – The Orange County Coroner's Bureau has identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by an alleged drunken driver Tuesday night in Costa Mesa as Juan Urbano-Miguel, 39, of Costa Mesa.
According to Costa Mesa Police Department, the deadly collision transpired at around 11:26 p.m. January 4, on Victoria Street and Placentia Avenue.
The CMPD said Jon Weir, 65, of Garden Grove, was driving east on Victoria Street when he crashed into a traffic pole, before overturning and catching fire.

Urbano-Miguel, who was on the sidewalk waiting to cross the street, was also struck in the process.
Medics responded to the scene and pronounced Urbano-Miguel dead at the scene.
Weir was treated and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
The crash led to the closure of all lanes of Victoria Street as authorities investigated the incident.
The CMPD is investigating the crash.
