Julia Schmidt Among 2 Women Killed in Pomona Crash on Pomona Freeway near Reservoir Street

Pomona, California (April 19, 2022) – Julia Schmidt, 24, of Chino, has been identified as one of the two women who were killed in an early Sunday morning traffic accident in Pomona, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 2:05 a.m., on April 17, on the Pomona (60) Freeway, west of Reservoir Street.
According to the CHP, a 2013 Toyota Camry, driven by Ryan Sanchez, 23, was rear-ended by a 2019 Honda Civic on the eastbound freeway.

Schmidt, who was a passenger in the Camry, and the driver of the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sanchez sustained minor injuries and was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
