Long Beach, CA – An elderly woman was killed and another driver was injured after two vehicles collided in East Long Beach Sunday afternoon.
The deadly crash happened at about 2:07 p.m. June 22 at Studebaker Road and Los Santos Drive near El Dorado Park.
Long Beach Police Department said a 2015 Toyota Corolla, driven by Julieta Ayala, 86 of Long Beach, was traveling westbound on Los Santos Drive when it stopped past the designated stop sign at the intersection and was in the lanes of Studebaker Road.
The Corolla was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado going northbound on Studebaker Road.
Ayala was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 45-year-old Long Beach resident was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators said speed, distracted driving, and DUI are not being considered as contributing factors in the crash
The incident remains under investigation.
