Justin Rodrigues Killed in Cuesta Grade Crash on Vista de la Ciudad Turnoff
San Luis Obispo, California (April 4, 2022) – Justin Rodrigues, 18, of Lemoore, was killed in a crash involving two vehicles on the Cuesta Grade on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred on Highway 101 near the Vista de la Ciudad turnoff at around 9:45 a.m. April 3.
CHP said Rodrigues was driving a 2003 Nissan 350Z southbound on Highway 101 when he drifted across the centerline and collided with an oncoming 2019 Ford Fusion operated by Sandra Gastelum, 54, of Santa Maria.

Gastelum and a passenger in the Nissan, Kenneth Rocha, 19, were hospitalized with major injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
