San Diego Harbor Police Chief Kirk Nichols Injured in Deadly Jamul Accident on SR 94 near Honey Springs Road
Jamul, California (February 9, 2022) – Interim San Diego Harbor Police Chief Kirk Nichols, was injured in a crash that left his wife, Jennifer Kathleen Nichols, 48, of Bonita, dead on Saturday evening in Jamul, according to a local news source.
The crash was triggered by a boat that came off a trailer on State Route 94 near Honey Springs Road just after 6:20 p.m. February 5.
CHP said a 2000 Mazda B300 pickup truck was towing a boat when, for unknown reasons, the boat trailer became detached from the back of the pickup and collided with a 2016 Fiat 500 driven by Jennifer.
Kirk Nichols Hurt in Deadly Jamul Crash on SR 94 near Honey Springs Road
Jennifer sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sharp Memoria Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday evening.
Kirk was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating to find out what caused the crash.
