Laura Ash Dies, Rodney Ash ad Kevin Mills Hospitalized after Car Crash on 5 Freeway in Douglas County

Douglas County, Ore. – 81-year-old Laura Patria Ash was killed in a two-vehicle collision on in Douglas County Monday morning.

According to the Oregon State Police, the collision happened at around 10:37 a.m. on March 18 on Interstate 5 near milepost 124.

The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Subaru Outback was passing a Freightliner commercial motor vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve. The Subaru hit the left front corner of the Freightliner causing the Subaru to turn across the front of the CMV.

The Subaru slid across the travel lanes, jumped over the concrete barrier, rolled down an embankment, and came to rest on its roof.

Patria Ash, who was a passenger in the Subaru was taken to hospital, where she later died.

The Subaru driver, Rodney Ash and the freightliner operator Kevin Mills were hospitalized with unknown injuries.

The roadway was blocked for about two hours during the on-scene investigation.

More details about the wreck was not provided.
