Police said Barajas was in the crosswalk attempting to cross the intersection northbound when he was hit by a white BMW SUV that was making a turn onto Ulysses Street from Socrates Avenue

Simi Valley, CA – Leopoldo Barajas, 81, of Simi Valley, was hit and killed by a vehicle in Simi Valley on Tuesday evening, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.
The accident took place on Ulysses Street and Socrates Avenue at about 5:20 p.m. June 18.
Police said Barajas was in the crosswalk attempting to cross the intersection northbound when he was hit by a white BMW SUV that was making a turn onto Ulysses Street from Socrates Avenue.
Barajas was taken to a trauma center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver was unhurt and stayed at the site of the collision.
Police said impairment was not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
