Lucerne, California (October 19, 2021) – One person died, and two others were injured in a traffic collision that happened Tuesday evening in Lucerne Valley, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The vehicles collided at around 7:04 p.m. on at Camp Rock Road.

A gray Dodge and a black Nissan Titan were involved in the crash for unknown reasons. One of them was partly blocking Camp Rock Road, and the other went off the roadway into the open desert after the impact.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to help the motorists.

The firefighters had to get one of the drivers out of the vehicle to access a passenger trapped between the door and center console.

The driver was awake and breathing with possible major injuries. The passenger sustained unspecified injuries.

The driver of the other car sustained a minor head injury.

The report said a 68-year-old female resident of Alaska was killed in the accident. The name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Two other victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.

CHP is investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
