Luis Nicolas ID'd as Man Killed in Coachella Collision on Grapefruit Boulevard near Avenue 52

Coachella, California (September 23, 2021) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau has identified the man who died Thursday morning following a traffic collision involving two vehicles in Coachella as Luis Nicolas, 36, of Mecca.
The deadly crash happened at around 7:59 a.m. Thursday, September 23 on Grapefruit Boulevard, just south of Avenue 52.
Authorities said two vehicles collided for unknown reasons on Grapefruit Boulevard.

One of the drivers, now identified as Nicolas, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:17 a.m.
One other party was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The crash caused a closure of Grapefruit Boulevard between Avenue 53 and Avenue 54.
The authorities are working to determine the cause of the crash.
