Fresno, CA.- The bicyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Fresno earlier this month has been identified as Luis Perez, 39, of Fresno, according to the Fresno County Coroner's Office.
The wreck took place near Belmont Avenue and Thesta Street shortly before 6 p.m. on May 11.
Police reported that Perez was found lying in the roadway with major injuries after he was allegedly struck by a black sedan that fled the area.
Perez was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police conducted an investigation into the accident and arrested a suspect on Wednesday, May 21, in connection with the accident.
The suspect, identified as Luis Jimenez Ortiz, 44, of Fresno, was booked into the Fresno County Jail for several charges including vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run, and DUI causing injury.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
