Lute Fekitoa, Naomi Cook Among 4 Killed in Fresno County Collision on I-5 and Derrick Avenue

Fresno County, California (March 3, 2022) – Lute Katalina Fekitoa, 43, of Auburn, Washington, and Naomi Cook, 25, of Edmonds, Washington, were among four people who died a collision on I-5 in Fresno County on Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision took place on the southbound side of I-5 at Derrick Avenue shortly before 9:30 a.m. March 2.
According to the CHP, Maikolo Fekitoa, 52, of Auburn, Washington, was driving a Chrysler Aspen minivan that drifted to the right shoulder and slammed into a parked big rig.

Four passengers in the van, Lute, Naomi, a 13-year-old boy, and a 9-year-old girl, were all killed in the collision.
Maikolo and two other passengers, Henry Cook, 37, of Edmonds, Washignton, and a girl aged 11, were all transported to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
Two of the patients were transported by ambulance while the third was airlifted.
Four of the passengers in the van were ejected due to the impact of the collision.
No other injuries were reported.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
