89-Year-Old Man Killed, One Injured in Madera County Crash on Avenue 7 1/2 near Firebaugh Boulevard

Madera County, California (March 28, 2022) – An elderly driver died, and another person was injured following a Sunday evening head-on collision in Madera County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, on Avenue 7 1/2, just west of Firebaugh Boulevard.
CHP said an 89-year-old man was driving his truck westbound on Avenue 7 1/2 when, for unknown reasons, he veered into the eastbound lane.
An oncoming Toyota Venza swerved to avoid the truck but veered off the road.
The truck eventually collided head-on with a Toyota Sequoia that was traveling eastbound.
Deadly Car Accident in Madera County
The 89-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The male driver of the Toyota Sequoia was transported to Madera hospital with minor injuries.
The female driver of the Toyota Venza did not suffer any injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
