County, California (March 3, 2022) – Maikolo Fekitoa, 52, of , Washington, Henry Cook, 37, of Edmonds, Washigntton, and an 11-year-old girl, were among three people seriously injured in a deadly crash on Wednesday morning in , according to CHP.

Four people died following the incident that happened just before 9:30 a.m. March 2, on southbound Interstate 5 at Derrick Avenue.

CHP said Fekitoa was operating a Chrysler Aspen minivan southbound on when it swerved to the shoulder and crashed into the rear of a parked big rig.

The crash killed four passengers in the . They were identified as Naomi Cook, 25, of Edmonds, Washington, Lute Katalina Fekitoa, 43, of Auburn, Washington, a 13-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl.

Three other occupants of the van, Maikolo, Henry Cook, 37, of Edmonds, Washigntton, and an 11-year-old girl, were all taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

CHP said one of the hospitalized parties was flown while the other two were transported by ambulance.

The CHP is working to determine the cause of the collision.
