A Dodge Ram 3500 collided with another vehicle under unclear circumstances.
One person was reportedly trapped inside one of the vehicles that possibly flipped in the accident.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to help the motorists.
At least one person who sustained major injuries was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
All lanes of northbound Highway 1 at the 280 Freeway split were shut down during the investigation.
