, Ariz. – Three people were critically injured in a head-on collision early Tuesday morning on Interstate 10 in Tucson.

According to a police report, the incident happened at around 1:29 a.m. on the eastbound near Grant Road.

Reportedly, a car was under pursuit traveled wrong way on Interstate10 westbound in the eastbound lanes.

Troopers said the suspect vehicle crashed head-on with an on-duty AMR ambulance.

The police said two AMR members were transported along with the driver of the other vehicle to the hospital and said all three are listed as critical.

The wreck impacted the eastbound lanes of the freeway from Miracle Mile to Grant Road.

More details about the collision were not provided.

An investigation is underway.
