Makelika Schnose Killed in Needles Crash on Interstate 40

, California (June 1, 2022) – Makelika Schnose, 35, of Las Vegas, was one of two women killed in a crash involving two vehicles near Needles on Monday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.

At around 12:35 p.m. on May 30, Schnose was riding in the passenger seat of a Jeep that was traveling eastbound on , nearly 110 miles south of Las Vegas.

The Jeep's driver, Wittney Beckstead, 32, of Las Vegas, attempted to change lanes and collided with a vehicle in another lane.

Both vehicles lost control and the Jeep rolled several times.

Beckstead died at the scene while Schnose, who was ejected as the Jeep rolled, succumbed to her injuries at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.

The other motorist, only identified as a 65-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

The CHP is handling the investigation.
