Man, 59, Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash in Desert Hot Springs; Tyson Rodriguez Arrested

, Calif. – A 59-year-old man was killed after two vehicles collided in Desert Hot Springs late Thursday night.

The deadly crash happened at about 11:43 on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in the area of Plam Drive and Hacienda Avenue.

According to Desert Hot Springs Police Department, Tyson Michale Rodriguez, 38, of Arcata, was driving a Kia Sorrento northbound on Palm Drive when he ran a red light and broadsided an eastbound Ford Focus driven by a 59-year-old man.

The driver of the Focus was critically hurt and was rushed to a local hospital where he later died. His name was withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

Rodrguez was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.

The deadly crash remains under investigation.
