Merced County, Calif. – A man and a woman were seriously injured following a head-on traffic collision in Merced County early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle accident occurred after 6 a.m. on Turner Island Road near Palazzo Road.
According to the CHP, a 26-year-old woman was traveling north on Turner Island Road when she ran off the right side of the road. The woman steered the vehicle back but overcorrected and ended up in the southbound lane where it collided head-on with a silver Toyota.
Reportedly, a 39-year-old man from the Toyota sustained major injuries and was flown to a nearby hospital.
The woman was also hospitalized with major injuries.
No additional information regarding the incident was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
