Man Suffers Severe Injuries in Motorcycle Collision on Kearney Mesa Road in San Diego

San Diego, CA. – A 68-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries in a collision with a car Sunday afternoon in San Diego's community.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Kearny Mesa Road.

Investigators said the incident happened when a 26-year-old woman driving a white Ford Mustang north on Kearny Mesa attempted to turn left into the Target parking lot in the area and moved into the path of a black 2014 Honda GL1800 motorcycle heading south.

The motorcyclist crashed into the car.

The man sustained severe injuries, including a collapsed lung and a lacerated liver. The injuries were considered life-threatening and needed immediate surgery.

Authorities said impairment was not considered to be a contributing factor.

The SDPD's Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
