According to the Tucson Police Department, the accident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12th, at East 22nd Street and South Cherrybell Stravenue.

Tucson, AZ. – 52-year-old Mark Leonard Mason died days after he was involved in a multi-vehicle collision at an intersection in Tucson, authorities said.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the accident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12th, at East 22nd Street and South Cherrybell Stravenue.
Authorities responded to the intersection after receiving reports of a three-vehicle collision.
The accident involved a BMW, a Honda Accord, and a third car.
Investigators said Mason was driving the BMW westbound on East 22nd Street when he began to turn left onto South Cherrybell Stravenue. As he turned, his car collided with the Honda, which was traveling eastbound in the middle lane.
After the crash, the Honda continued eastbound, causing debris to hit the third vehicle, which was stopped in the northbound right turn lane on South Cherrybell.
Mason was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Three days later, on June 15th, police were informed that Mason died from his injuries.
The drivers of the other cars were evaluated at the scene but were not hospitalized.
According to the investigators, Mason's failure to yield at an amber traffic signal while making a left turn was the major factor contributing to the accident.
