
San Jose, CA – A man who was seriously injured in a wrong-way traffic collision in January succumbed to his injuries earlier this month, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The two-vehicle crash happened at around 10:45 p.m. on January 7, 2024, in the area of McKee Road and Francis Drive.
Authorities say the man was driving a 2017 Toyota Tacoma southbound on Francis Drive when he ran a red light at the intersection and proceeded westbound on McKee Road in the eastbound lane where he crashed into an eastbound 2004 Buick Rendezvous.
Reportedly, the man continued driving westbound on McKee Road and eventually stopped along the shoulder of Berryessa Road after it crashed into a tree.
As per the San Jose Police Department, the Toyota driver sustained injuries that were initially considered to be not life-threatening and was hospitalized. The man remained hospitalized at an area hospital until April 1 when he succumbed to his injuries.
His name was withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
The driver of the Buick was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
