CHP said a 61-year-old man was trying to run across the highway when he was hit by a westbound Nissan

Bakersfield, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Bakersfield on Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place on Highway 178 at about 9:04 p.m. July 4.
CHP said a 61-year-old man was trying to run across the highway when he was hit by a westbound Nissan.
The pedestrian, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No further details were released.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
