San Ysidro, CA. – A 67-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after he was hit by a pickup truck Friday morning in San Ysidro, the San Diego Police Department reported.
The incident took place around 10:10 a.m. in the 500 block of West San Ysidro.
Police said the 67-year-old man was walking southbound across the roadway, reportedly outside of a marked crosswalk, when a 47-year-old man driving a 2017 Toyota Tacoma attempted to make a left turn from a driveway and hit the pedestrian.
The driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way when the accident occurred in the right westbound lane.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries, including a skull fracture, facial fractures, a wrist fracture, and a brain bleed. Emergency personnel transported him to an area hospital for treatment. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Impairment is not considered a contributing factor.
The crash is being investigated by the SDPD's Traffic Division.
