The man suffered major injuries and was transported to a Modesto Hospital in critical condition.

Merced County, CA. – A man was airlifted to the hospital after being struck by a car on Saturday morning in Merced.
The auto-pedestrian accident happened on Highway 59 near Reilly Road at around 8:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man reportedly stepped into the roadway and a semi-truck swerved to avoid hitting him. A Honda Civic traveling behind the truck was unable to avoid hitting the man.
The man suffered major injuries and was transported to a Modesto Hospital in critical condition.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
