Man Killed, 1 Injured in Head-On Collision on Avenue 7 1/2 in Firebaugh

, California (October 28, 2021) – A man was killed and one other person was airlifted to a hospital following a head-on collision near Firebaugh in County Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Avenue 7 1/2, just west of Firebaugh Boulevard.

CHP said a Mazda was traveling westbound on Avenue 7 1/2 when, for unknown reasons, the Mazda drifted into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming Ford.

The driver of the Mazda, only identified as a man in his 50's, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Ford driver was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with a fractured leg. Their condition was not immediately available

Further details about the collision were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
