Man Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 67 in Poway

, California (October 8, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Friday afternoon three-vehicle crash that killed a 23-year-old man and left two other people injured in Poway.

The deadly accident occurred at about 1 p.m. on Highway 67 and Lazy Acres Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the 23-year-old man was headed northbound on the highway in a Honda Accord, south of Scripps Poway Parkway, when he tried to pass a big rig. 

At the same time, a Toyota Highlander, operated by a 44-year-old Lakeside woman with a 19-year-old female passenger was headed southbound.

Unfortunately, the Honda reportedly collided with the big rig. As a result of the crash impact, the Honda spun out of control and traveled into the southbound lane, where it struck the Toyota.

Man Killed in Highway 99 Crash

Sadly, the 23-year-old man sustained major injuries and was flown to Palomar Medical Center in , where he was pronounced dead.

The Lakeside woman suffered major injuries, and her passenger sustained moderate injuries. They were both transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.

It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the collision.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
