Authorities said a 35-year-old man lost control of his vehicle, veered into opposing traffic and collided head-on with another car at Palm Street in Los Molinos.

Man Killed, Another Hospitalized after Head-On Collision on Highway 99 in Red Bluff

, CA – A man died, and another man from the same city was hospitalized after their vehicles collided head-on Friday morning in Red Bluff, the California Highway Patrol said.

The wreck occurred on at Palm Street in Los Molinos.

CHP said a 35-year-old man from Redding was driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra northbound on Highway 99 when, for an unknown reason, allowed his vehicle to cross the double yellow lines and into the southbound lanes.

The Nissan collided head-on with a southbound 2019 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 54-year-old Kirk Brown of Redding.

Both drivers got trapped in their cars after the crash.

Emergency personnel responded and extricated the victims.

The 35-year-old man was airlifted to Enloe Hospital with major injuries. He later died while receiving treatment.

Brown was taken by ground ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital with major injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the CHP – Red Bluff Office.
