The driver of a stolen pickup truck hit another vehicle at S. 128th Street and 22nd Avenue S. near Seatac and Burien.
King County, Wash. – A man died, and a child was hurt when the driver of a stolen pickup truck hit another car at an intersection in King County, the King County Sheriff's Office said.
The wreck occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday at S. 128th Street and 22nd Avenue S. near the border of Seatac and Burien.
According to the department, deputies spotted a stolen Ram 1500 pickup truck parked in the City of Seatac and started to plan to contact the driver, but the vehicle drove off.
The deputies started to gather resources and plan a traffic stop of the stolen vehicle, but the truck driver possibly saw the police cars behind and drove off at a high rate of speed.
The deputies did not start a chase.
Several minutes later, authorities received at least one 911 call reporting a collision at the intersection.
When deputies responded to the area, they found the suspect vehicle had crashed into a Jeep at the corner. The vehicles acquired significant damage.
The suspect driver fled on foot after the collision.
A man and a small child in the Jeep sustained serious injuries. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The child was transported to Harborview Medical Center in unknown condition.
Deputies unsuccessfully searched for the suspect in the neighborhoods for several hours. The authorities are asking the public to help them locate and arrest the hit-and-run driver.
