San Jose, CA.- A scooter rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident that took place in San Jose on Saturday evening, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The wreck took place on Capitol Expressway, west of Tuers Road at around 5 p.m. July 26.
A man was riding an electric scooter in the bike lane when a 2005 Chevy Astro van heading west on the expressway swerved into the bike lane and struck the rider.
The driver of the Chevy tried to flee the scene but was stopped shortly after by police officers.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased on Monday.
The driver was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
