Sacramento, CA. – A man died in a three-vehicle collision that happened Sunday evening near an intersection in Sacramento.
The pileup took place shortly after 7 p.m. near 16th Street and E Street.
Based on information obtained from surveillance video from a nearby business, an SUV was driving north on 16th Street when the driver ran a red light at E Street.
At the same time, a silver car was heading east on E Street on a green light when it crashed into the SUV.
The SUV lost control and struck the driver's side of a blue car making a right-hand turn off E Street onto 16th Street.
The SUV spun in a circle and came to a stop before D Street. The blue car also spun and came to a stop on the east sidewalk of 16th Street. The silver vehicle continued through the intersection and stopped on E Street.
A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim died a short time later while receiving treatment. It was unclear which car the deceased occupied.
The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the collision.
