Bonita Man Killed in Old Town Car Crash at I-5 Freeway and I-8 Freeway
Old Town, California (September 21, 2021) – A 26-year-old man from Bonita was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sunday night in Old Town.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at around 9 p.m. September 19, in the area of Interstate 5 and Interstate 8.
The man was driving a pickup traveling eastbound on I-8 when he lost control of the car while making a turn onto the southbound I-5 Freeway.
The truck rolled over and landed back on its wheels on the roadway, the CHP said.
The driver was able to get himself out of the wreckage, jumped over a center divider wall, and walked onto the northbound lane of I-5.
The man was then hit by a northbound Acura sedan and was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP said the Acura driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
