Gilroy, Calif. – Maribel Ornelas, of Morgan Hill, was among several people injured in a deadly collision in Gilroy on Friday morning, according to the authorities.
The collision took place on Highway 152 just west of Lake Road on Friday, January 12.
The California Highway Patrol said a 25-year-old man was driving a Tesla when he tried to pass a slow-moving tractor and collided with an oncoming car.
The crash caused a chain-reaction collision involving three other vehicles.
One of the vehicles, a Dodge, was carrying a family of five.
CHP said Maribel, her husband and one-year-old boy, were taken to hospital for treatment.
Maribel's two daughters, Elisa and Valentina, sadly passed away following the incident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
