The deadly crash happened at about 11:09 p.m. at the intersection of Palmetto Avenue and Ivy Avenue.
Fontana, CA – A bicyclist was hit and killed by a vehicle at a Fontana intersection on Saturday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
The Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as 46-year-old Martin Cortez from Fontana.
The deadly crash happened at about 11:09 p.m. at the intersection of Palmetto Avenue and Ivy Avenue.
Authorities said Cortez was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a suspected DUI driver, identified as 31-year-old Gilbert Perez.
Cortez suffered severe injuries and was transported to Kaiser Foundation Hospital- Fontana where he was pronounced dead.
Perez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing bodily injury.
The crash remains under investigation.
