Mary Delreco Killed, Daughter Severely Hurt in 3-Car Crash on 176th Street East in Pierce County

Pierce County, Wash. – The medical examiner has released the name of a woman who died after a Subaru she was in collided with two other vehicles Wednesday last week in Puyallup.

Mary Delreco, 64, of Orting was a rear passenger of a Subaru that was struck by two vehicles near the 5700 block of 176th Street East on Wednesday, January 17.  According to the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office, Delreco died of multiple blunt-force injuries.

Her 26-year-old daughter, who was operating the Subaru at the time of the crash, was seriously injured in the incident. The driver's boyfriend, identified as Matthew Rousseau, sustained minor injuries in the crash. Rousseau, reportedly, fled the scene after the crash

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Subaru was traveling at high speed, ran a red light on 70th Avenue East, and collided with a pickup . A white that was driving behind the Subaru also struck it and left the scene.

The 26-year-old Subaru driver suffered major injuries in the crash. The pickup truck driver and his 2-year-old son were not injured.

Pierce County, Wash. – A woman was killed and another was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash in Pierce County Wednesday evening.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the incident was reported at around 5:42 p.m. in the 5600 block of 176th Street East.

Reportedly, a 26-year-old female driver of a white Subaru was driving at a high speed when she ran through a red light on 70th Avenue East.

At the same time, a pickup had the green light and was making a legal U-turn and struck the driver's side of the Subaru. A white van that had been following the Subaru crashed into it before driving off.

The Subaru driver was seriously injured. Her mother, 64, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Neither of the women was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the pickup, a 41-year-old man, was uninjured. Neither was his 2-year-old son who was in a car.

The driver of the white van, a 29-year-old man, left the crash site after the wreck. He is currently facing felony hit-and-run charges, the police said.

The names of the victims were not immediately disclosed.

No more information about the wreck was available.

An investigation is underway.
