Matthew Currier Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash with Box Truck on Highway 29 in Calistoga

Calistoga, California (February 2, 2022) – 61-year-old Matthew R. Currier was hospitalized with major injuries after a head-on collision that happened Tuesday morning in Calistoga, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place at about 8:45 a.m. on Highway 29, near Tubbs Lane and Robert Louis Stevenson State Park.
The Sonoma man was driving a 2000 Ford Contour sedan in the southbound lane of the highway when he entered a curve and crossed into opposing traffic. His car collided head-on into a 2020 Freightliner truck. Currier's vehicle went about 75 feet down an embankment after the first impact.
Currier was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the truck was not injured. He was only identified as a 35-year-old Ukiah man.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
