2 Killed, 1 Injured in Highway 99 Big Rig Crash near Highway 46 in McFarland

McFarland, California (April 24, 2022) – Two people died, and another was injured in a big rig accident that happened early Sunday morning near McFarland in Kern County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck occurred at around 2:32 a.m. on northbound Highway 99, just north of Highway 46 in the Famoso area.
A car slammed into the back of a big rig for unknown reasons. The car got wedged underneath the semi-truck with two people trapped inside.
First responders pronounced two people dead at the scene. The coroner was requested to respond.
Another person was hospitalized at Kern Medical Center with moderate injuries.
A tow truck was needed to pull the vehicle from under the semi.
All northbound lanes of the highway remained blocked until the scene was cleared.
