, California (August 31, 2022) – 23-year-old Michael Lowery was injured in a that happened on Tuesday night in Modesto.

The crash was reported at around 7:44 p.m. on Salida Boulevard near Pelandale Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Modesto man was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he rear-ended a Ford F-150 driven by Alejandro Contreras, 19, of Modesto.

Officials say the pickup had slowed to make a U-turn at an opening in the concrete median.

Despite wearing a helmet, the rider suffered major head injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Contreras was not injured.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
