Miguel Martinez Among 2 Killed in Tujunga Collision on Highway 210 and La Tuna Canyon Road

Tujunga, California (May 26, 2022) – Miguel Martinez, 57, of Covina, has been identified as one of two men who died in a collision on Highway 210 in Tujunga late Tuesday night, according to the coroner's office.
A Honda Civic was traveling westbound on the freeway when it slammed into a parked rig on the side of the highway.
The wreck took place shortly before midnight on May 24, at La Tuna Canyon Road.
The car became pinned under the big rig.
Martinez was one of the two people who died in the accident. The other victim has only been identified as a man in his 40's.
The collision led to the closure of several lanes of the highway as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Remember to Buckle Up
No matter the type of car you are driving, buckling up remains the safest choice for drivers and passengers.
As you drive around during the Memorial Day holiday, you will come across more law enforcement officers on the freeways as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign launched last week by the NHTSA. The campaign began yesterday, May 23, and will run through to June 5. The campaign aims at reminding drivers and passengers of the importance of wearing a seat belt and the legal consequences of not buckling up.
According to statistics by NHTSA, over 15,000 lives were saved by seat belts in crashes that happened in 2017. In 2020, 10,893 unbuckled people in passenger vehicles died in crashes in the US. 60% of the young adults (ages 18 to 34) killed in the crashes were completely unrestrained.
Remember, seat belt safety starts with you! Your children are watching.
