Piru, CA. – At least one person sustained minor injuries in a collision that took place Thursday morning on Highway 126 near Piru, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP said around 8:20 a.m., a semi-truck hauling 76,000 pounds of trash and recyclables was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when the driver drifted onto the right shoulder near Powell Road and struck a Moon Valley Nurseries truck that was parked there.
The semi-truck driver overcorrected and ended up in the center divider, where the big rig jackknifed. Fuel leaked from the vehicle onto the roadway.
The collision caused traffic to be rerouted onto a single lane in each direction of the highway.
Authorities said the driver of a car traveling in the westbound lane slowed down to watch what was happening when another westbound vehicle rear-ended the first.
At least one person sustained minor injuries in the second collision.
CHP officers are investigating the accidents.
