2 Injured, 1 Seriously in 4-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 5 Freeway in Lost Hills
Lost Hills, California (October 13, 2021) – Misael Villanueva and 25-year-old Rico Burlingame were hospitalized after an early Wednesday morning multi-car pileup in Lost Hills, a census-designated place in Kern County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Four vehicles, including two semi-trucks, were involved in the collision that took place at around 4:54 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 Freeway at the Xenia Avenue overcrossing.
Kern County firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency crews responded to the scene to help the motorists.
2 Injured in Lost Hills Crash on 5 Freeway
The highway was completely closed for an unknown period to allow a SkyLife air ambulance to respond and airlift Villanueva to Kern Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. The patient's age remained unknown at the time of the report.
A ground ambulance also responded to the scene and transported Burlingame to Hanford Hospital with moderate injuries.
Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
