3 People Injured in Montecito Crash on Highway 101 near Sheffield Drive
Montecito, California (October 11, 2021) – Three people were injured in a six-car pileup on Sunday morning in Montecito, authorities said.
The accident occurred at about 7:20 a.m., on October 10, on Highway 101, south of Sheffield Drive, in a construction zone.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Honda Pilot was traveling in the number 1 lane when it slowed suddenly. Unfortunately, a gray Honda Accent that was driving behind could not stop in time, rear-ending the Pilot.
Following the collision, four other vehicles also collided in the area. The drivers involved said the low, glaring sun was a factor.

Three people sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the crash.
Intoxication was not suspected of playing a role in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
