Several Injured in Madera County Accident on Avenue 12
Madera County, California (June 30, 2022) – A multi-vehicle collision sent several people to hospitals on Thursday afternoon in Madera County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened on Avenue 12 just before 3 p.m.
CHP said a gray Saturn Ion was heading east on Avenue 12 when it attempted to overtake a Dodge Journey but ended up sideswiping it.
The Dodge then collided head-on with a Chevy, and the impact caused the Chevy to overturn.
Two passengers in the Saturn were not wearing their seatbelts and were ejected in the collision. Both sustained major injuries.
One of the passengers was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, while the second was taken to a Madera hospital.
The occupants of the Chevy, a woman and two children, were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, a woman in her 20s, was not transported to the hospital.
It's unclear whether alcohol played a role in the collision.
The crash caused a closure of Avenue 12 as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
