Nathan Garcia Killed in Two-vehicle Crash on Hwy-101 in Curry County

Curry County, Ore. – One person was killed and another was injured after two vehicles collided on Highway 101 in Curry County Thursday morning, according to Oregon State Police.

The crash happened at about 8:37 a.m. Thursday, February 29 on southbound Highway 101 near milepost 347.

According to Oregon State Police, an investigation revealed that Nathan Garcia, 43, of Brookings was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on Highway 101 when it reportedly hydroplaned into the southbound lane.

The Toyota spun into the path of a southbound Dodge Ram 2500, driven by 78-year-old Mark Nichols of Port Orford and the two vehicles collided.

Police say Garcia sustained injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nichols sustained minor injuries.

No additional information was provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
