2 Killed, Nelson Rodriguez Arrested after Chatsworth Bicycle Collision on Plummer Street

Chatsworth, California (January 6, 2021) – A man was arrested following a accident that left two people dead in Chatsworth on Tuesday night, according to the Police Department.

The man was identified as Nelson Rodriguez, 58.

Police said at around 7:10 p.m. January 4, two bicyclists were traveling west on Plummer Street when they were hit by a red 2006 Toyota Tacoma driven by Rodriguez.

The bicyclists, identified as Matthew Zink, 58, and Ana Hernandez, 37, were both killed in the crash.

Rodriguez reportedly fled the scene of the collision and crashed into several other vehicles and property.

The Toyota eventually came to a stop when it collided with a wall near Knapp Street and De Soto Avenue.

Police arrested Rodriguez on suspicion of murder and transported him to a hopspital for teratment of his injuries.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
